Episode 139 – From Barceloneta to ASC Duisburg: Unai Lema’s Next Step

From one of the world’s leading water polo clubs to Germany – why playing time, responsibility and development matter for the next stage of a young player’s career

In Episode 139 of the Water Polo Expert Talk Podcast, Spanish water polo talent Unai Lema talks about his journey from the youth system of CN Atlètic-Barceloneta to senior water polo – and explains why he decided to continue his career with ASC Duisburg in Germany.

Growing up in one of the strongest water polo environments in Spain gave Unai the opportunity to experience elite-level structures from an early age. In this first part of our conversation, we look at his development as a young player, the philosophy behind Barceloneta’s youth system and the difficult transition from junior to senior water polo.
